The Director of Digital Analytics will work in and collaborate with cross functional teams to develop meaningful and actionable insights on digital analytics, website performance, measurement, and make recommendations for optimizing overall digital performance. This role will direct the development of goals and methods for mining, gathering and reporting on web data. Ideal candidate will be the subject matter expert and advocate best practices around web analytics, conversion optimization, program/site measurement and multivariate testing. This role provides the opportunity to work across several cross-functional teams in a cutting edge, innovative, cross-channel environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Direct and control the activities of a web analytics unit accountable for mining, extracting, tracking, and reporting on web performance and quality metrics.
- In partnership with product management, lead ad-hoc analyses on site performance in support of continuous site optimization strategies and projects across all digital screens (mobile / desktop) leveraging multiple data sources. Identify and interpret trends and present insights and recommendations to upper management.
- Oversee and direct the production of weekly / monthly KPI reporting analyses of site performance
- Track trends and metrics and recommend adjustments to products, services and techniques based on findings. Communicate findings to top management decision makers in marketing, merchandising, and product management.
- Ensure analyses remain responsive to current user practices and emerging technologies.
- Interact with senior management to keep abreast of function or unit objectives. Partner with direct reports, peers, vendors and management to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs
- Develop analytics tracking strategy and implementation documentation. Oversee testing and validation. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all online and web analytics data via the continual monitoring and assessment of site and program tags.
- Manage external relationships with the web analytics vendors such as Coremetrics, Google analytics and Hitwise.
- Train and mentor staff to provide the highest-quality services and best results to internal business owners.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/BA Degree in statistics, economics, mathematics or business;
- Masters Degree preferred
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to find and tell a story with the data; at least 10 overall years of experience in research/technology
- 5+ years of management experience.
- Experience in digital marketing analytics and the IBM/Coremetrics reporting suite
- 6+ Years experience with an online retailer or online agency
- Proven ability to translate requests into objectives, present clear and actionable findings, and communicate them both in writing and orally.
- Advanced Excel user. Experience using SQL, SAS, or SPSS.
- Advanced user of Coremetrics, including interface as well as backend technology support (technical tracking & tagging).
- Strong leadership as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
