As Business Analyst you’ll be the interpreter between consumers and the petabytes of logs on file in our data warehouse. You’ll assemble the logs collected from billions of games into a data mosaic that answers business questions. You’ll keep the company headed in the right direction by providing the insight needed to better understand the players.
You are:
- Educated: you’ll need at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Management Information Systems or a related discipline; educational experience developing key performance indicators for online games will earn you some bonus points
- An equipped communicator: you deftly generate reports and analysis using Excel, Access, and MySQL; you speak the language of numbers, and translate raw data into reports and presentations that are clear even to a statistical layperson
- A data logistician: you know the ins and outs of SQL and storage systems like Hadoop; you recognize the importance of good logging and the challenges and opportunities associated with data warehousing schemes, relational databases, and distributed data
- An expert analyst: you have extensive experience working with large, rich data frameworks; you’re well versed in advanced analysis techniques, and know that machine learning isn’t just something that happens in the Matrix
- A model statistician: your favorite models are the predictive kind, and statistical methods such as Linear or Logistic Regressions are the runways they walk
- Player-focused: you’re a gamer and an analyst, and you use your gaming experience to help identify the kind of data that provides insight into the issues players care about
You will:
- Quickly analyze and aggregate petabytes of game data in preparation for deep analysis
- Organize the data you’ve collected into reliable intel that identifies areas of opportunity and informs strategic business decisions
- Conduct competitive studies and provide intelligence reports for senior management to review
- Help keep everyone on the right track by creating and maintaining a statistics dashboard that tracks business-critical data; help prep other business insight reports that shape player research and inform game design decisions
- Speak for the numbers, answering business-related questions through exploratory data analyses and ad-hoc reporting
